| Description
|
Anton Webern was born in Vienna in 1883. He was not a prolific composer but his influence on subsequent composers and particularly and vanguard artists is widely recognised. In 1904 he composed Im Sommerwind, in a style described as an "idyll for orchestra", though what the composition truly represents is a symphonic poem.
Concerto No. 3 (for piano and orchestra), B. Bartok
Bartok’s last piece, unfinished, is the result of a concerto project for two pianos. Characterised by clarity of structure, the transparency of its tonalities and the serenity of the emotions expressed with simplicity, a mark of the final inspiration of the composer.
BENEDETTO LUPO piano
Following his debut at thirteen years old, he has taken part in numerous international contests. In 1992 he won the “Terence Judd” Prize in London. His intense activity as concert pianist has taken him all over the world performing with the most important orchestras. He has been described by international critics as one of the most interesting and complete talents of his generation. His repertoire spans from Bach to contemporary music. He has recorded extensively.
4th Symphony in D minor, Op. 120, R. Schumann
Judging from the date this piece was conceived it was actually his second symphony. Its original title, "Symphonic Fantasy", expresses the composer's intention to break away from the traditional symphonic structures. The piece's movements are uninterrupted and linked together, with repetitions on themes circulating through its parts. |
